Les Deux Alpes
Snowsure glacier skiing and exciting off-piste terrain have made Les 2 Alpes a well-established favourite. You can explore around 220km of piste, plus many more km off piste here, including the link to La Grave, all serviced by over 40 lifts. The resort is unique because some of the easiest runs and beginner slopes are found higher up the mountain. Consequently some of the steepest and toughest slopes run into the resort, with just the one main blue easy route back to the resort.
Around 60% of the pistes are for beginners and intermediates and 40% for experts. Les 2 Alpes ranks amongst Europe’s best for snowboarding. There are two boarder-cross courses and a big terrain-park including half-pipes and higher up there are several innovative terrain features such as ledges, gullies, canyons, all of competition standard. For Experts, the significant extensive and challenging off-piste terrain is huge, with 5 different areas.
Les 2 Alpes has a glacier which means the top section guarantees good snow throughout the season. Due to its unique location, visitors to the summit (3,400m) can experience the stunning 360° panorama of the French and Italian Alps. The breath-taking scenery includes views of Mont Blanc, Mont Ventoux and the Les Ecrins mountain range. From here down to Mont de Lans, is a long vertical descent of over 2200m, the longest run of anywhere. For the more adventurous, the slopes of La Grave are a must and is reached by snowcat from the top of the ski area to the 3568m Dome de la Lauze, or via a short walk.
Off the slopes there’s a lively atmosphere and après ski scene spread across the 2km long main street, which winds back on itself. Indeed Les 2 Alpes is renowned for having one of the most vibrant scenes of any French resort, with a great choice of around 30 bars, including some friendly pubs, sports bars, clubs and a couple of quiet, more traditional après venues. Pub Windsor (the oldest there), Le Pano bar, Smithy’s, K.re and the Motown Bar are just 5 to check out as well as in the prettier part of Les 2 Alpes called Venosc Plaza, where you will find a choice of quieter atmospheric bars and restaurants. There are around 60 restaurants to cater for any tastes and budget.
Les 2 Alpes offers an excellent range of accommodation options, from hotels and self catered apartments, to both catered and self catered chalets and we are happy to help you find your ideal place to stay. If you’re looking for activities off the slopes or want to keep the family entertained, then the six-day lift pass allows entry to the outdoor heated swimming pool and ice rink as well as a day on the slopes in La Grave, Alpe d’Huez and Serre Chevalier and night skiing on the Lutins slope, from 5.30pm up to 8pm, Tuesday to Friday.
